Germinating beans and seeds yourself

It is simple to germinate beans and seeds yourself at home. For this you will need: a large (jam) jar, fresh water, a piece of cheesecloth or cotton and untreated seeds, pips or beans. Then you go to work as follows:

  • Step 1: rinse the seeds well. Put them in the pot and cover with a few centimetres of cooled water. Cover the pot with cheesecloth or cotton, put the elastic round it and leave the pot overnight in a warm, dark place.
  • Step 2: in the morning, rinse the seed with cold water. Allow to drain well, otherwise the seed will rot. Put it back in the dark. Repeat twice a day until the seed starts to germinate. Now put the pot in a 45 degree corner so that the sprouts can grow tall.
  • Step 3: then place the pot on the windowsill in the sun for a few hours. Eat the sprouts or store them in an air-tight container in the refrigerator.
